Spontaneous summertime!

Hello Avon Youth!
Here we go being spontaneous again…
This Saturday night (August 21) the Steinman Mennonite youth group (from New Hamburg) will be at Cedar Springs (my place -2353 Line 40), and their leader and I are thinking it would be fun for our groups to get together. They are a small group (7 or too, and hope to play a game called Smuggliers and Spies in the bush. Basically it is a game with lots of running and chasing. And then we’ll have a campfire after – with snacks (bring whatever you like to eat – and roasting sticks too if you have any – and bug spray ). Your friends are welcome too, as always. And if you want to pitch a tent and stay until morning (the Steinman’s group is there all weekend), you are also welcome (with your parents’ permission of course) to do that. We will be coming to church at Avon on Sunday morning (and will give you a ride, and breakfast first…).
So – if you don’t already have plans for Saturday night, be spontaneous and join us! Arrive around 6:45, pickup time is flexible…

Avon Youth meet every Wednesday from 7-9 at the church, and Sundays from 11-12. You are welcome to join us!

During the winter, as we studied Exodus, we saw God at work in history.

Is God still active in the world today??? If so, what’s God up to?

This spring we are opening our eyes to ‘God at work!’, in the world, in Stratford, in our lives. We will be inviting some guests in to share with us, and taking some field trips, to discover where God is at work.

And we’ll be getting involved – How do we participate in what God is doing in the world??? We’ll be ‘learning by doing’ about both service, and prayer, as ways to work with God, as we volunteer at the MCC Relief Sale, and go on retreat with our congregation in June. Come join us !

Wednesday, May 19 – God at work…

Friday – Monday May 21-24 – Pitch’n Praise – it’s not too late to sign up for all or some of the weekend – call Jane if you’re interested. – at this point there are 6 females going, but if guys want to go, we can make that possible too.

Sunday, May 23 – No Youth Sunday School

Wednesday, May 26 – God at work…

Saturday, May 29 – MCC Relief Sale in New Hamburg – helping (and eating, for free!) at the Vegetarian Café from 11 -1:30. (We’ll go earlier so we can have fun before we work)

Sunday, May 30 – Sunday School with Lorrie – watching a ‘Make you think’ video

Monday, May 31 – Vacation Bible School Preparation night 5:30-8 – pizza!

Wednesday, June 2 – God at work: Hidden Acres Camp (field trip!) – leave church at 7pm

Sunday, June 6^th – A missionary from El Salvador, Brian Rude, will be speaking at the service and in youth Sunday School

Wednesday, June 9^th – God at work: Movie night… to be announced…

Sunday, June 13^th

Wednesday, June 16^th – God at work: The United Way (field trip!) – leave church at 7pm

Saturday, June 19^th – Avon Congregational Retreat at Hidden Acres (9:30am start) Come and camp over until Sunday with us!

Sunday, June 20^th – Worship Service at Hidden Acres Camp

- Remember to let Jane know if you still want to participate in the ‘Night in the Cold’ to benefit Shelterlink, next Friday (Feb 5th) from 8-11pm
- Next Saturday (Feb 6th) is ‘Avon Winterfest’ – starting with indoor & outdoor games at 3:30, then pizza supper, and a movie – sounds like fun! We’ll also be working together starting at 3:30 to make the chili for the next day…
- Next Sunday (Feb 7th) is our ‘Chili Fundraiser Lunch’ to help with costs for the Today’s Teens Conference – we’ll be working together during Sunday School time to set up and prepare this.
