Avon Notices…
Care Groups for the Fall have been formed. A complete list is posted on the Library door. If you would like to join a group, please contact a Pastoral Care Commission member or call the church office. Extra description & response forms are below the mailboxes.
Youth Ministry. Leadership Team, with the support of parents of ouryouth, has decided to end Melissa Kirby’s Leave of Absence. This decision comes after much prayer and consultation with appropriate leaders from Mennonite Church Eastern Canada and Melissa’s counsellor as well as leaders within the church. Melissa will resume work in the coming week. Your continued prayers for Melissa, her family and the youth of our church are greatly appreciated.
Pastoral Review. Earlier this year we began a Pastoral Review with Herb.This process has recently come to a close with Herb receiving feedback, responding to it, and coming to agreement with Leadership Team on some new priorities and revisions to his job description. Thank you to those who offered your insight as Herb continues to grow as our Pastor.
Community Meals. Avon will again be serving meals to the homeless andworking poor of Stratford beginning in November. Sign-up sheets are now posted beside the Youth Room.
The Year-End Men’s Slowpitch Team Party and Potluck Dinner is Sep 30,3:00 pm at the Kechnies. Infielders and pitchers bring first course; outfielders and catchers bring dessert. Bring enough to feed your family as well as plates & cutlery. Drinks will be provided. If you won an award last year, please bring it for the exciting trophy presentation!Children and families are welcome.
My Group - Youth Fall Kickoff
Focus - Wednesday, Oct 3 at 6:30 pm. Come out to a night of volleyball, plan Fall events, eat snacks mmmmm, and socialize. Bring your friends and a snack to share. See you there. Questions call Mel 519-273-4982.

Please pray for God’s blessing in the hands of those involved in my shoulder replacement surgery scheduled for Oct 3 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. May God lead me in the way of His service during this time.

ATTENTION! Junior Youth is beginning again this year for grades 6-8. One of the 1st events will be Junior Youth Breakaway at Rockway MC, Nov 11, 10:00am - 3:00pm. Cost is $15. Those wanting to attend need to register by Oct 26. Contact Marion Dow (519-348-4975) for details. Any parents wishing to participate are welcome.

John Bell, a renowned lecturer in music worship and spirituality, iss peaking Oct 2 & 3, 8:30 pm at Erb Street Mennonite Church, Waterloo. A poster with complete details is beside the Youth Room. On Oct 4, he will be meeting with youth, young adults and their leaders.
Family & Sexuality in Mennonite History: An Academic and Community Education Conference, is being held October 12-13, 2007, at Conrad Grebel. It is open to the public and registration is free. Details are beside the Youth Room or www.grebel.uwaterloo/family.

Youth for Christ - Stratford will be selling turkeys again this year for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. An order form outlining giving options is available below the mailboxes. For Thanksgiving, order by October 3.
